2010 Young Musicians Program

Applications for The Walden School’s flagship program, the Young Musicians Program, are now being accepted. For nearly 60 years (first as the Junior Conservatory Camp and now as The Walden School), we have been offering an unparalleled summer experience for creative young musicians. Combining the feel of camp (complete with mountain hikes, dances, open mics, and more), the rigor of school (with fun and engaging classes taught by expert and inspiring faculty), and the joy of a summer music festival (featuring concerts, composers forums and artist residencies) the Walden School’s Young Musicians Program is a unique and often life-changing experience for its participants. Enrollment is limited to approximately 50 students, ages 9-18, who come from throughout the United States and around the world for a five-week program on the beautiful campus of the Dublin School in Dublin, New Hampshire.

A visiting artist from 2009 commented:

“During our visit to the Walden School, my colleagues and I kept saying to each other, "this is what music is supposed to feel like!" The students and staff come from diverse musical backgrounds, so the potential for inspiration and collaboration is boundless. But the real currency of Walden is its spirit - one that encourages artistic intensity amidst a highly supportive community.”

Applications can be downloaded at Walden’s website here.

There are three application rounds, with deadlines January 8, February 26 and April 9. Financial aid is available; 35% of students received some type of need-based financial assistance in 2009.
