Success! Goal of $10,000 in New and Increased Donations Reached

When a donor stepped forward early in 2009 with a promise of $10,000 if we could raise an equal amount in new and increased donations, we knew we had our work cut out for us. The donor gave us a deadline of June 27, the first day of the Young Musicians Program, so we put out the call to all of you. People from all parts of the community stepped forward to participate – from young alumni to longtime supporters. Some people made first-time gifts; some dug deeper to help us meet our goal. As a result, by June 27, we had exceeded our goal by $4,500.

Now we were in a bind. Technically, the original donor was matching only the first $10,000. We didn’t want any donors to feel left out, so we asked the Board of Directors for their help in making sure that all eligible gifts would be matched. They, too, rose to the challenge, and we are pleased to report that every single eligible donation made by the deadline was matched.

We thank each and every one of you who supported this exciting effort.
