Fall 2009 eNews: InterNetzo
Staff Transitions
By Seth Brenzel
Many of you got to know Brad Evans, Walden’s office manager since September 2006, over the last few years. Brad was the very able staff leader at the 2007 Walden/Junior Conservatory Camp alumni reunion in Dublin, and he participated for three consecutive summers in our Teacher Training Institute. Brad told us in February that he was moving on to the San Francisco Symphony, where he currently serves as an Individual Gifts Coordinator. In his short time with Walden, Brad made a big difference. His welcoming and pleasant manner in the office, his creation of an electronic document system to organize our proliferation of paper files, his careful organizing of our financial records and his enthusiastic presence at many Walden events were just a few of his many contributions. We miss him, and we wish him all the best in his new position. We are delighted that he remains active as a member of Walden’s alumni community – he is after all a Teacher Training Institute alumnus – and we look forward to staying in touch.
When someone of Brad’s caliber departs an organization, those left behind are always anxious about whether they will ever find someone as good or as capable to replace him. Walden was fortunate to find Drew Thams, someone who is already carrying on and building upon Brad’s excellent work. Drew comes to us from McCann Worldgroup, a large advertising agency, where he worked as an Intercompany Staff Accountant. He also works part-time as an office accountant and legal assistant for an attorney here in San Francisco. He has had a lifelong passion for music, and he continues to be active as a guitarist and vocalist, as well as a DJ. He holds a B.A. from San Diego State University, where he majored in Philosophy, with an emphasis in Logic and Language. He has just returned from his first Walden program experience where he led the operations staff for our 2009 Teacher Training Institute. You can reach Drew at athams@waldenschool.org or at our office number here in San Francisco at (415) 648-4710.
Please join me in wishing Brad a fond farewell and giving Drew a warm welcome!
