Past Artists

The Walden School 2007 Concert Series, Artists-in-Residence & Festival Week Events

All events (except the August 3rd Choral Concert) are presented in the Louise Shonk Kelly Recital Hall on the campus of the Dublin School at 18 Lehmann Way in Dublin, New Hampshire. The August 3rd Choral Concert will take place in the Peterborough Town Hall at 18 Grove Street in Peterborough, NH.

All events are free and open to the public.

Concert Series

Saturday, June 23, 7:30 pm
The Peabody Trio
A winner of the prestigious Naumburg Chamber Music Award, the Peabody Trio has established itself as one of the leading piano trios in the world. They bring to their music making what The Washington Post calls “the romantic fervor of the 20th century greats.” Comprising Violaine Melançon, violin; Natasha Brofsky, cello; and Seth Knopp, piano, the trio will perform works by Zhou Long, Charles Ives and Beethoven. This concert is part of The Walden School’s 35th Anniversary Alumni Reunion & Celebration Weekend.”

Friday, July 6, 8 pm
Panorama Jazz Band
Based in New Orleans, this 7-piece band features Walden faculty member Aurora Nealand and will perform Klezmer, Caribbean, Balkan and New Orleans jazz.

Friday, July 13, 8 pm
Ha-Yang Kim, cello and electronics

Hailed as "phenomenal" and playing with “brilliant technique full of energy, concentration, musicality and expression” (Mainpost, Germany), New York-based Ha-Yang Kim returns to The Walden School to perform a series of world premiere commissions by Walden School Faculty members.

Maho Nabeshima, piano

Accomplished pianist and Walden School Teacher Training Institute alumna performs Olivier Messiaen’s epic Vingts Regards sur l’enfant-Jèsus.

Friday, July 27, 8 pm
The Walden School Players

This concert will feature works from the contemporary music repertoire, as well as newly composed pieces by members of the ensemble, which comprises Claire Chase, flute; Peter Evans, trumpet; Dave Eggar, cello; Eric Huebner, piano; Nathan Davis, percussion; Meighan Stoops, clarinet; and Robin Zeh, violin.

Festival Week Composers Forums
Moderator: Pamela Layman Quist, composer, faculty member at Santa Clara University and co-founder of The Walden School

These three programs feature many world premieres of new compositions by Walden students. Concerts include moderated discussions between Composer-in-Residence, student composers, faculty, performers, and audience members.

Program to feature Pamela Layman Quist’s Requiem for the People, among other works by American composers.

Thomas Hecht, piano

Head of piano studies at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore and former Walden School faculty member performs works by Soler, Poulenc, Albeniz, and Moussorgsky.
